Celebrate 75 Years Of Dr. Seuss On Mulberry Street – Win ...

Oceanhouse Media has brought yet another Dr. Seuss book to iOS devices everywhere. And To Think That I Saw It On Mulberry Street was Dr. Seuss’s first children’s book published in 1937. Now children can enjoy this fabulous tale interactively on the iPhone or iPod.

The story follows Marco on his walk to school. He wants to find something interesting he can share with his father that night, but all he sees is the normal everyday things. At this point, his imagination starts running wild. Children will giggle with excitement as they see how his imagination transforms simple objects into amazingly silly objects not typically seen on Mulberry Street.

Mulberry Street offers children three ways to experience this tall tale. Read to me allows kids to control page navigation, but the story is narrated to them. Read it myself puts young readers in control of everything. They read to themselves and turn pages when they are done. Auto play narrates and advances the pages by itself so that even the youngest children can view the book almost like a movie.

Word recognition is supported in this interactive children’s book by hang  words highlighted in red as they are spoken. Children can also tap on words and they are spoken aloud. As children tap on pictures, the word associated with that picture pops up, with spelling and audio. This way, children can associate pictures with the written word. If the reader needs the entire paragraph read again, a simple tap and hold on the paragraph will restart the page narration.

The emphasis in And To Think That I Saw It On Mulberry Street is not on interactivity, and what there is supports the reading. This is Dr. Seuss after all, how much more activity does any book need.
